One of the oldest churches in Mexico build during the 1700's is near Rio Verde SLP, Mexico. This is believed to have been the church where my Grandmother Patricia Avalos was married in 1918 where she was born.
An indigenous tribe of Indians dance daily before they ascend up a tall pole by swinging in circles on a rope by their hair. Hundreds of tourist travel from miles away to see the spectacular event outside the famous Tijan Pyramids in Vera Cruz, Mexico.
There's not a likely chance you'll pick up a nail in your tire on this dusty road in Mexico but, if you run over a rock on the wrong side this one-man shop will find you a replacement somewhere.
My favorite road travels have always been the treacherous roads that wind through Mexico. The world is changing ever so rapidly but, these roads take me where there is no time, no noise... just the aire, sun and scenic mountain road ahead.
José Menjarez was born in Dallas, Texas as a 5th generation native Texan. José's family ancestral history derives from San Antonio, Texas and dates back to 1845 when Texas was still a part of Mexico. José's great-great Grandfather, Amparo Perez worked as a Wild Stallion horse Rustler in
West Texas near El Paso during the late 1800's, the historic Texas Wild West days with the likes of Jessie James, Billy the Kid and Judge Roy Bean. José works from his home as a Independent Researcher and Marketing Consultant in areas of Commercial Video, Internet and Mobile Marketing but mostly enjoys working on independent documentary film projects involving Culture, Creative Arts and History.
As you've probably noticed, I'm a Documentary Film Geek... I've probably watched more documentary films that any one-person should ever watch during their lifetime but, I find it a great way to relax and cause more wrinkles to my brain at the same time.
I also enjoy watching great movies. My favourites are Classic films and Westerns like "The Godfather", "Sparticus", "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly", "Schindler's List" and "Cool Hand Luke".
Sounds that stimulate my senses are as varied as the world around us. The classical violin of Vivaldi, Classic Rock of The Eagles, Soulful voice of Marvin Gaye, the Spirit & Worship songs of Phil Driscoll, Traditional Mariachi of Pepe Aguilar, Romantic songs of Luis Miguel, Jean Luc Ponte's electric Jazz Violin.
I can't say I have a favourite genre, musician, composer or sound that I prefer, it's what moves my senses, stirs the emotion to take me there... it's all good!
Being a Researcher of sorts, I tend to read non-fiction like it's going out of style. Law, History, Science, Technology and sometimes I'll just lookup and read on whatever interests me at the moment.
The most interesting Subject/Topic study that has stayed with me throughout my lifetime has been Spiritual Awareness and Development. My favourite alltime book is of course, "The Holy Bible" but there's also "A Blessed Life" by Author, Robert Morris.
As a Photographer and Artist, I have a keen interest in natural elements, the aged, rough & rugged things of life. Therefore, I tend to shoot what I see as Natural Beauty, Heart and Soul.
My focus in photography is to capture the essence of an item, moment or individual in their natural state to cause me to wander, reminisce or imagine. Not all images that we see are in color or simply black & white... grey areas are a part of life and living as well!

Do You Want To Know More? I've always been an artistically curious individual. Even as a very young child (3 or 4 yrs old), I remember sitting in between my grandparents while in church with a pencil and paper drawing an exact sketch of the Preacher up there giving the sermon. And believe it or not, my sketch drawings turned out really good so my grandmother would keep them to show her friends and brag about my young talent! Within this "Insights" Section, you'll find more stories about me and some of my life adventures... hope you enjoy them.
Hitting the road for a road trip is always an adventure for new sights, scents and sounds, especially if that trip will take you into foreign territories whether near or far, you're going to see things you've never seen before and mark-my-word, you're going to want to remember it.
That's one of the best reasons to always have your camera in hand along with a good supply of batteries. Candid shots that you can take while on the road can leave you with some amazing once in a lifetime...
